Cancer Screening Event Has Been Postponed
At Energize Health & Hormones, Dr. Heidi Queen is committed to staying at the forefront of preventive care. That’s why we are excited to invite you to a Cancer Screening Event featuring the Galleri® multi-cancer early detection test. This simple blood test is capable of detecting signals of over 50 different cancers, including some of the most aggressive and hardest to detect in early stages—such as pancreatic, ovarian, liver, and esophageal cancers. Early detection can make the difference between having more treatment options, better outcomes, and in many cases, survival.
Patients are welcome to invite family and friends who may be interested. The cost of the test is $749, a savings of $150, and all billing is handled directly through GRAIL, the company that developed Galleri. Flexible payment options are available, including FSA/HSA and monthly installments.

Why Early Detection Matters
Most of us are familiar with routine screenings—colonoscopies, mammograms, skin checks. These remain essential, but they only cover a handful of cancer types. The reality is that more than 70% of cancer deaths are caused by cancers that don’t have standard screening methods. By the time symptoms appear, these cancers are often advanced and harder to treat. Imagine the difference if these cancers could be found years earlier, quietly revealed by a blood test before symptoms began. That is the promise of Galleri and other multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests now in development.
What is the Galleri Blood Test?
Galleri is a type of MCED test developed by GRAIL, a biotechnology company focused on transforming early cancer detection. The test is designed for adults at higher risk of cancer, typically ages 50 and over, though it may also be considered for younger people with certain risk factors. The test works through a simple blood draw. Your blood sample is sent to GRAIL’s laboratory, where advanced sequencing technology and machine learning analyze fragments of DNA circulating in your bloodstream. Some of this DNA comes from healthy cells, and some may come from cancer cells. Galleri looks for subtle patterns in this DNA that suggest cancer may be present, and in most cases, it can also suggest where in the body that cancer signal originated.
What the Test Can Detect
Galleri can screen for over 50 types of cancer, including:
- Common cancers: breast, lung, prostate, and colorectal
- Cancers with no standard screening options: pancreatic, ovarian, liver, esophageal, and certain rare sarcomas
While not a replacement for standard screenings, Galleri adds an extra layer of protection, casting a wider net for cancers that usually go undetected until late stages.
The Patient Experience
The test is simple and straightforward:
- Blood draw – A small sample is collected in our office.
- Lab analysis – Your blood is shipped to GRAIL’s laboratory for testing.
- Results – Your physician reviews the findings with you, typically within 2–3 weeks.
- Next steps – If a cancer signal is detected, your doctor will recommend further diagnostic testing to confirm results and guide treatment if needed.
For many patients, the greatest value of Galleri is peace of mind—knowing they are doing everything possible to stay ahead of cancer.
Accuracy and Ongoing Research
Like all medical tests, Galleri has its strengths and limitations:
- High specificity – 99.5% accuracy in ruling out cancer, making false positives very rare.
- Sensitivity – Correctly identifies about half of cancers overall, with detection rates improving in later stages.
- Cancer origin identification – In patients with positive results, the test correctly identified the tissue of origin nearly 89% of the time.
Large clinical trials are underway worldwide. The NHS-Galleri trial in the UK is enrolling 140,000 people to test whether Galleri can improve survival rates when used alongside traditional screenings. The National Cancer Institute is planning a U.S. study involving up to 225,000 participants in coming years. These studies will help answer the ultimate question: Can Galleri not just detect cancer, but save lives by finding it early?
Insurance and Cost
The Galleri test is currently offered at an out-of-pocket cost ($749 which represents a savings of $150). Most insurance plans, including Medicare, do not yet cover the test, though some employers offer benefits that help with payment. GRAIL provides flexible payment options, including monthly installments and FSA/HSA eligibility.
Looking Ahead
Galleri represents a new frontier in medicine—one where cancer detection could become as routine as checking your cholesterol or blood pressure. While research is ongoing, many physicians see it as an important step toward a future where fewer cancers are discovered too late.
A Local Opportunity to Learn More
Normally, patients must schedule and coordinate this test on their own. Our September 27th event offers the chance to learn about Galleri in a supportive setting, ask questions directly with Dr. Queen and her team, and decide if the test is right for you. We invite you to join us and take part in a powerful step toward proactive health. Reserve your spot for our next cancer screening event: (415) 548-7901.
